Welcome fellow inebriates,
If you’re familiar with Modern Drunkard Magazine, you may have seen my article on “Soused Cinema,” featured in the January 2006 issue. Unfortunately, I was only able to skim the surface of the ocean of firewater-fueled films for that piece. This blog will allow me to dive deeper into the rich cocktail of film history and shine a light on the role alcohol has played in motion pictures from the silent era to the present day.
Predominately, this blog will consist of reviews of films in which liquor has played a major part. Each review will include a scorecard of drinks consumed, the resulting intoxicating effects, a booze-related quote, and other tipsy trivia. From time to time I’ll also provide news from the world of soused cinema, profiles of actors known for drunkenness onscreen or off, cocktail recipes transcribed from booze movies, and other related features.
It is not required that you imbibe to enjoy these films. However, I would never dissuade a person from such an endeavor.
Cheers,
garv

Ah, booze!
FUcking brilliant Bloghost. In a world (not the movie guy voice) but in a world with blogs all about the same thing - you choose to do something different - and something that I know little or nothing about.
That will NOT stop me from posting as if I knew everything about these things...but you and I know better...
Wha?
Thanks for the encouragement!
By the way, I'll be getting to the Great Man in a month or so. I want to put together some Fields features a little closer to the release of the W.C. Fields Comedy Collection Vol. 2 DVD box set scheduled for March 20th.
oh my name is bill garver and i just love wc fields. he soo sexy!!!!!!!!!! nice blog homo.
My wife, ladies and gentlemen.
Hello Garv. Finally sucked into the abyss called the bloggosphere eh? My favorite scene in the SpongeBob movie was when SB and Patrick got drunk on ice cream sundaes.
On the theme of animated inebriates, I'll eventually have to post a review of DUMBO...
Pink elephants on parade!
Oh, no... not the drunken Dumbo segment... I'm having some seriously freaking out flashbacks just *thinking* about that.
Despite the fact that the whole thing is supposed to be alcohol induced, I think it's perhaps the most hallucinogenic sequence in all of Disney. Maybe one of the clowns had slipped some acid in the bottle before it spilled.
somehow found you while i was chasisng down links to old friends in bands playing in dekalb, il back in the day. like.
Martha,
Great to hear from you. It brings back great memories of lobby ratting in Douglas Hall.
We'll always have Paris,
