First, I actually like Russell Brand, but he&#39;s done a better version of this character in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and even Get Him To The Greek. <br /><br />Second, I agree with you that removing the hedonistic booze swilling turns the character into a bore. Part of the comedy of the original Arthur was the tragedy in how lonely he was despite all that money. The new Arthur seems self-actualized. BORING!<br /><br />Third, the writing is abysmal, but we have numerous real life Arthurs running amok daily. Paris Hilton comes to mind. This story is no longer new or fresh.
